  TechNet e-newsletter
Posted by: n.j.kennerley - 09-29-2015, 09:36 AM - Forum: Technicians' Network Meetings - No Replies

We are currently working on the next TechNet e-newsletter, we need your ideas for this. This is your opportunity to tell us your news. Can you recommend any training courses, have you been on a training course and it was awful, tell us about it! Do you have any great news you would like to share? Is there an event coming up that you know about which would be useful for techs to know about?

If you have items you would like to see included in the newsletter please contact the steering group.

  Google Docs

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a link/button on google sheets that would send an email to a group list or an individual email?

I have created a rota for tissue culture and I have managed to get it to send reminders on certain dates. I was wondering though if anyone here was a google docs expert and knew whether I could create a button someone could click that would, for example send a pre-written email to the person on the rota for that month.

For example. The IMS has ran out. A user notices and instead of having to type up an email to someone (if they cannot be found in person), they could simply click a button that said (IMS running low) and an automated email would then go out to whoever was on the rota at that time, saving them the time of typing one out.

If this cannot be done, no problem but I thought it would be worth asking and not wasting more of my time trying to figure it out

Cheers

Josh

I have a few new academic staff setting up research groups, that are very low on equipment. If anyone has usable, working equipment that they no longer use that they would be willing to lend out on a long term loan basis, I would be very grateful to hear from you.

  Careers Talks
Posted by: p.hart - 04-24-2015, 08:17 AM - Forum: General Discussions - Replies (2)

Occasionally I get asked to give careers talks to student groups. I am asked to talk about my career path (from scientist to communicator/marketing) and what my current job involves, skills- and activities-wise.

If I can be of any use to anyone in that respect, please just get in touch. Similarly, it might be useful for folks to volunteer in a similar way if they are keen to share their experience with those who are yet to take significant strides down their own career path.

PM me if you are interested in being added to a register of career speakers.
